"Since beginning this program with Cora I have found that my attitude towards food and weight loss has changed. I feel much more in control of what and when I eat. Being able to remove some trigger foods for myself has made a big difference. I no longer crave potatoes of any sort. Carbs have always been my downfall, whether it be potatoes, breads, sweets etc. Just removing the emotion connected with potatoes I also removed the craving for carbs." - Tammy S.

A Guide to Living a Holistic Lifestyle

Are you looking to live a long and healthy life? Do you see yourself being able to do all the things you want as you age?  How would that feel?

One of the things I am passionate about is health and healthy living I want to live a long time and be in good health while doing it.  One of the ways to do that is to take a look at your holistic wellness which focuses on the connection between mind, body and spirit - seeking to find root causes that create issues by looking at the body as a whole.

Generally we feel better when we eat healthy foods and are more active - yet we often find excuses not to do it - not sure why we make it seem so difficult?

What are some benefits of holistic health?  Higher levels of happiness and contentment with life, less physical discomfort, a healthier body, improved natural healing abilities and reduced stress. The idea is that if any one of the areas - physical, emotional, spiritual, social or mental health is affected your health as a whole may suffer.

So - what is involved in having a holistic lifestyle?  Here are some tips for to get you started if you haven’t already - or maybe you’ll hear something new you can incorporate into your routine.

1. Mindful Eating
Holistic living begins with what you put into your body. Start by paying attention to the foods you consume. Opt for whole, nutrient-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Avoid processed foods and artificial additives. Practice mindful eating by savoring each bite and listening to your body's hunger and fullness cues. I know I often eat while doing something else and the next thing I know my plate is empty - so know that this may take some practice.

2. Regular Exercise

Physical activity is essential for holistic well-being and good health in general - as I have mentioned many times before. Find an exercise routine that you enjoy, whether it's yoga, jogging, swimming, or dancing. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week to boost your physical health and release endorphins that support mental and emotional balance.  You do not even have to complete all of the exercise at one time - even 5-10 minutes 3 times a day can make a difference - if time is an issue for you.

3. Stress Management
Stress is a significant obstacle to holistic living. Incorporate stress-reduction techniques into your daily life, such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, or journaling.. These practices can help calm your mind and improve your overall well-being.

4. Emotional Awareness
Acknowledge your emotions and allow yourself to feel them without judgment. Many of us were not brought up to feel our feelings - so this may feel awkward. Give your self some grace and seek healthy ways to process and express your feelings. Building emotionally supportive relationships with friends and family can also contribute to your emotional balance.

5. Spiritual Exploration

Take time for spiritual exploration, whether through meditation, prayer, mindfulness, or simply spending time in nature. Reflect on your values, beliefs, and sense of purpose. Cultivate gratitude and a sense of connection to something greater than yourself. The act of slowing down can benefit you in so many unexpected ways.  We are all in such a hurry and keeping busy that we sometimes forget to slow down and enjoy some peace and quiet.

6. Holistic Health Practices

Consider incorporating holistic health practices into your routine, such as acupuncture, herbal remedies, or energy healing sessions like the Emotion Code or Global Energy Method. These practices can address both physical and emotional imbalances, promoting overall well-being.

7. Declutter Your Environment
A cluttered and chaotic environment can contribute to stress and overwhelm. Create a peaceful and organized living space that supports your well-being. Declutter your home and surround yourself with items that bring joy and serenity. If you have a lot of decluttering to do - do not overdo it.  Take your time and work on a small area at a time.  You’ll be surprised how much you can accomplish in even 15 minutes a day!

8. Cultivate Mindfulness

Practice mindfulness throughout your day. Be present in the moment, whether you're eating, working, or spending time with loved ones. Mindfulness helps you appreciate life's simple pleasures and reduces the impact of stress.  May sound easier said than done!  I find often find myself thinking about the next task instead of being present where I am currently - another thing I am constantly practicing!

9. Foster Positive Relationships

Healthy relationships are a cornerstone of holistic living. Surround yourself with supportive, uplifting individuals who share your values and encourage your personal growth. Nurture these connections and communicate openly and honestly with loved ones. If you find that the vibe seems off with some of your close relationships consider some energy healing to see if you have a Heart Wall that can be released to improve that relationship.

10. Self-Care Rituals

Create self-care rituals that nurture your body, mind, and spirit. This could include taking long baths, reading, practicing a hobby, or spending time in nature. Regular self-care routines replenish your energy and promote inner balance.  So important - just like the saying you need to put on your oxygen mask first - you need to fill yourself up first - so you have the energy to give to others.

11. Seek Holistic Guidance

Consider working with holistic practitioners, such as nutritionists, therapists, or life coaches who can provide personalized guidance and support on your holistic living journey. Life doesn’t have to be bad in order to ask for help. Getting a different perspective from someone outside your circle can make a huge change in your life.

Embracing Holistic Living

Incorporating holistic living into your life is an ongoing journey, and it's important to be patient and kind to yourself along the way. Remember that small, consistent changes can lead to significant improvements in your overall well-being. As you continue to prioritize your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, you'll experience the transformative power of holistic living, leading to a more balanced, fulfilling, and purposeful life.
